The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs and Katara-the Cultural Village Foundation, along with strategic partners, are taking part in the activities of 'Doha, Capital of Culture in the Islamic World'.

Mal Allah Abdulrahman al-Jaber, representative of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, said that there are activities offered by the ministry within the activities of Doha, Capital of Culture in the Islamic World as well as other events that are presented in collaboration with the strategic partners.

He noted that some activities of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs on this occasion were held during the blessed month of Ramadan, including the Islamic Cultural Security Conference, which focused on the Muslim nation and issues of unity, diversity, difference and renewal. Speaking during the '360 Weyak' (360 With You) programme presented by the Doha360 website, he pointed out that the events were affected by the coronavirus pandemic, as there were plans to hold the second edition of the Holy Qur'an recitation competition, in which the winners of the first places were to compete from contestants around the Islamic world, but it was postponed until the restrictions of the pandemic are lifted.

During the same programme, director of Events and Cultural Affairs at Katara, Khalid Abdel Rahim al-Sayed, spoke about the role of Katara in the activities of Doha, Capital of Culture in the Islamic World 2021 initiative, saying that Katara proposed to the Supreme Committee for events to hold about 21 activities in Katara, which have already been approved, and will be held over the current year.

Six events have been organised starting from the blessed month of Ramadan, including the Katara prize for the recitation of the Holy Qur'an, Katara prize for Arabic poetry, a prize for short story, a mobile app contest on the love for Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and a contest on the language in the Holy Qur'an, he said.
