ACS International School Doha has held a ceremony to mark the completion of its first year at its new campus in Al Kheesa.
A commemorative plaque was unveiled in the presence of Robert Cody, head of school, with parents from the Parent School Organisation in attendance. A student from ACS Doha read out a personal message from Tim Cagney, chief executive of ACS International Schools.
Now fully established as ACS Doha’s new home, the Covid-secure campus spans 60,000sqm and has been designed to accommodate almost 2,500 students. In addition to dedicated Early Childhood, Lower, Middle and High School buildings, campus facilities include a full-sized football pitch, all-weather athletics track, swimming pools, drama studios, music rooms, a wellness suite, science laboratories and well-stocked libraries.
Mohammed Sultan al-Jaber, chairman of Al Jaber Group, sponsored the project, heading up the Group which managed the development and construction process. Speaking prior to the event, al-Jaber stressed the importance of the new campus within the context of Qatar’s ambitious growth plans. “This new campus benefits the existing school community and also serve emerging districts such as Lusail and The Pearl. I am proud to have partnered with ACS Doha to deliver an international school that enhances Qatar’s educational offering and resonates with the National Vision 2030.”
Cody expressed his delight in seeing the new campus come alive during the past year, as the students have returned to school. In his personal message, Cagney spoke of ACS International Schools’ commitment to Qatar. “After more than 50 years of providing international education in the UK – and, for a decade now, in Qatar – we see the new ACS Doha campus as a landmark in our development and a significant contribution to the growth of Qatar. We are honoured to have worked closely with al-Jaber and al-Jaber Group on this important project. Our Doha school plays a key role in the ACS success story.”
Offering an international and American curriculum, ACS Doha is the only school in Qatar to offer both the International Baccalaureate Career-Related Programme (IBCP) and the College Board’s Advanced Placement Programme (AP).
