Institute of Internal Auditors Qatar chapter recently conducted an event to celebrate ‘International Internal Audit Awareness Month of May’ with discussions on the future of internal audit.
"The session covered the entire gamut of internal audit function from stakeholder expectations, why and what to change, areas of transformation, and the future. No transformation journey is alike, and one has to develop own path to accelerate. Finally, it is about how internal audit helps organisations reimagine risk as a competitive edge," said Sundaresan Rajeswar, a Board member who co-ordinated the event.
Internal Auditors have to maintain competency and upgrade with the growing needs of the business. The conversations focused on the current trends in Internal Audit and how to modernise the Internal Audit function. Key learning areas in focus were stakeholder expectations, the current trends, the future, and key resources the audit function will need to be most effective.
The second part of the session delved into the current trends in internal audit. Most Internal Audit leaders believe that annual audit plans and risk assessments are antiquated.
