Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) secretary-general Ali bin Hassan al-Hammadi met Senegal's ambassador Dr Mohamed Habibo Diallo and El Hadj Magatte Ndaw, first counsellor at the embassy of Senegal in Doha, Wednesday morning.
The meeting was attended by Faisal Mohamed al-Emadi, executive director of the Relief and International Development Division, and Dr Fawzi Oussedik, head of International Relations and International Humanitarian Law.
During the meeting, Dr Diallo highlighted the good relations between Qatar and his country. He commended QRCS’s outstanding efforts at the local, regional and global levels.
Dr Diallo communicated a message from the Senegalese Red Cross Society, welcoming broader bilateral co-operation with QRCS. He offered full personal support to facilitate any relief, development or humanitarian projects in Senegal or West Africa.
Al-Hammadi valued this constructive diplomatic move by the ambassador of Senegal as a further push to humanitarian relations between the two national societies. He emphasised the importance of such meetings in strengthening ties in the field of humanitarian action.
The secretary-general of QRCS approved of the suggestion to work closer with the Senegalese Red Cross Society, under the umbrella of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
He promised to give priority to this matter and consider potential joint humanitarian and development projects, as QRCS was paying greater attention to the humanitarian causes and needs of the African communities affected by war and/or disasters.
