President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk-yeol met on Thursday HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani in Seoul. During the meeting, HE Sheikh Mohamed conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to the president , and the Amir's wishes of good health and happiness, and to the government and people of the Republic of Korea continued progress and prosperity. For his part, the Korean president entrusted HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs with his greetings to His Highness the Amir, wishing the Amir good health and happiness, and Qatar continued progress, development and prosperity.
During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral cooperation, ways to support and develop them in various fields and Qatar's preparations to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The Korean president expressed his country's aspiration to strengthen relations with Qatar, especially in the fields of energy, technology and food security.
The president said that the agreement signed by the two sides on Wednesday, regarding mutual exemption of visa requirements for citizens of the two countries, would strengthen relations between Qatar and the Republic of Korea.
He praised the efforts of Qatar in mediating between the United States and the Afghan Taliban, and Doha's hosting of the indirect round of talks between the US and the Islamic Republic of Iran. (QNA)
