At least 11 people died due to thunderstorms and lightning strikes that struck the state of Bihar in eastern India on Tuesday.
The Indian media outlets quoted an official source in the government, saying that eight people were killed in Purnia and Arare districts, while three others were killed in Sobol, due to thunderstorms and lightning strikes that hit Bihar. The official announced financial compensation for the families of the victims.
The official also asked the state's residents to stay indoors in light of the difficult weather conditions.
In August, 40 people were killed due to heavy rains in several regions in northern India.
